Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA, and delivered through its network. When a page is requested, Vercel processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, previously visited page (referrer), browser and operating system. This processing serves to deliver the page and to keep operations secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The logs are stored only as long as necessary for these purposes.
A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Vercel; it forms part of the terms of service. Data may be transferred to the USA. Vercel is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which an adequacy decision of the European Commission exists (Art. 45 GDPR); in addition, the agreement contains the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 (2) (c) GDPR). More information: Vercel’s privacy notice (opens in a new window).
There is no audience measurement or usage analytics.
Contact by email and phone
The contact form does not send any data itself: it prepares a message in your email app, which you send yourself. If you write to me or call me, I process your details to answer your enquiry and, where applicable, to prepare a quote (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, for other enquiries Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). I delete the data as soon as it is no longer needed for this purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.
Emails to me are stored with DomainFactory GmbH, c/o WeWork, Neuturmstraße 5, 80331 Munich, Germany, which operates my mailbox as a processor; a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with it. DomainFactory is part of GoDaddy and runs the mailbox on GoDaddy servers. Data may be transferred to the USA in the process; GoDaddy is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which an adequacy decision of the European Commission exists (Art. 45 GDPR). More information: DomainFactory’s privacy notice (in German) (opens in a new window).
Storage in your browser
If you set the appearance to light or dark, your browser stores this choice under the key “theme” in local storage; choosing “Automatic” removes the entry again. The entry stays on your device, is not transmitted and contains no personal data. Storing it is necessary for the function you requested (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete the entry at any time in your browser settings.
Language of the home page
When the home page is requested, Vercel evaluates your browser’s language setting (the “Accept-Language” header). If English is set as the first language and German is not set at all, the page redirects you to the English version. This information is only read for this purpose, not stored.
If you choose the language yourself using the switch at the top, your browser stores this choice in the cookie “lang” (value “de” or “en”, lifetime twelve months). It makes sure you see the home page in the language you chose in future and contains no personal data. The cookie is necessary for the function you requested (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.
Fonts and external links
All fonts are loaded from this server; no data is transmitted to font providers. Links to LinkedIn, Vercel and DomainFactory are simple references: only when you click one do you leave this website, and the privacy policy of the respective provider applies.
Your rights
You have the right at any time to
- access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR).
To do so, contact me informally at the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Saxony-Anhalt.
